When my group of college girlfriends is tasked with executing a girls weekend, no detail is spared. We get complete satisfaction out of creating thoughtful weekend itineraries and well-organized Google docs. I'll willingly throw myself into an abyss of ideas to come up with weekend "swag" that is personalized, innovative and gives the weekend a sense of theme. So when it came to throwing a weekend getaway for one of our closest friends, we made sure it was both full of activity and a reflection of our bride-to-be.

We were thrilled when Lyndsay chose Savannah, Georgia as her destination. We centered the weekend around staying at the Montage Palmetto Bluff property, which served as the perfect backdrop for picturesque bike rides and boat cruising. Though we flew into Savannah/Hilton Head, Montage was about a 30 minute ride from the airport and actually in Bluffton, South Carolina.

Some of us arrived early and landed late on Thursday night but it was worth it to wake up in the morning already at our destination! With a smaller party, we spent our first night at the Inn and would reside at one of their larger village homes for the weekend.

(Day 1) - We had some time before the rest of the group arrived so we squeezed a quick work out in before a casual breakfast at Octagon, the Inn's restaurant situated on a porch overlooking the property. As our friends started to trickle in, we prepped for our afternoon out on the water and sat for a quick toast and lunch at Buffalo's over near the dock where we would board our boat. For the amount of girls we had, we chartered two private boats led by two of the friendliest captains. We even saw a couple low country dolphins!

We later checked into our home, which was a gorgeous 4 bedroom with enough room to house all 16 of us. It was so nice to feel pampered a bit by staying in a house that felt worthy of a weekend away. Make sure to find time to go "porching" pre-dinner for a cocktail out on the lawn. Dinner was on the Palmetto Bluff property at Canoe Club, which was a short walk from our house. On the way, we ran into our boat captains - love that southern small town vibe!

(Day 2) - Saturday was set to be full of activities. We started the day off with a Tabata workout led by our resident training coach, Christine Dailey. The rest of the afternoon was spent pedaling through the Spanish moss and expansive property. Hidden tree houses and a lunch cove called the Canteen were at the top of our list. It could have easily been a scene straight out of the movie, "Now and Then" (one of my favorite coming of age movies). To top it all off, as we road our bikes to the treehouse, the property was hosting a potato sack race. I mean, c'mon - just when I thought this place couldn't get any cuter!

We finished the the afternoon off with rosΓ© at one of their three pools and headed back to get ready for dinner and a night out in Savannah.

Since it was our last night and Savannah proper was about 40 minutes away, it was the perfect party bus situation. Dinner was at The Grey though we had heard good things about The Olde Pink House. It is worth noting that Savannah has an open container policy and is actually the only city in all of Georgia that allows it. Another spot worth noting is Savannah Smiles Dueling Piano Bar. We came here directly after dinner before hopping around the riverfront bars.

Sunday was a mix of people heading out while some were staying through Monday. We enjoyed one last lunch at the Inn all together before heading to the airport. From NYC, Savannah is such an easy and short flight. I will definitely be planning a future trip, to Montage Palmetto Bluff and hopefully Montage Cabo and Deer Valley, if I'm lucky!
