What's In My Hospital Bag

What's In My Hospital Bag

There are a bunch of lists that exist out there and everyone has their own preference in terms of what is necessary to bring to the hospital for delivery. Our hospital provides mostly everything needed in the first days with the new baby included diapers, formula and post-natal products. In fact, we took a bunch home with us and stock piled!

This is what is going in my bag for baby #2:

Portable Speaker - can’t say enough about how much we used this for our first delivery with Kaleigh. After moving to the mother-baby room, this made our time at the hospital feel less sterile. It was also great for visitors!

Robe - Although I have my go to favorite Lake Robe, this will not be coming with me to the hospital. Instead, I opted to purchase an inexpensive robe on Amazon to wear while in the hospital. This way, you don’t need to worry about your nice pieces while there. Same goes for socks, pillow case, slippers - I just preferred to bring things I wouldn’t mind tossing after being at the hospital if necessary.

Comfy socks with grips - these are also great to have on hand. Although I plan to bring slippers, It’s nice to also just have socks with grips to walk around and go to the bathroom in.

Extra Long Phone Charger - even though you’re not on your phone much with so much going on in those first days at the hospital, I found my phone was draining pretty quickly and it was nice just to have it plugged in at the ready and nearby. Never know what the outlet situation will be!

Other tech products I’m bringing: iPad, AirPods

Sleep Mask - I love a sleep mask but even if you aren’t used to wearing one, it’s great to have in the hospital since you don’t know how bright the room will be.

Night Gown - I personally found this much easier to wear around once I was able to vs. pants or shorts. I actually opted to purchase one of the Lake pajama maternity gowns but might purchase a less expensive version for this hospital visit. I’ll bring two of these.

Slippers - Although these Ugg are my go-tos, I purchased inexpensive ones from Amazon to bring to the hospital. I didn’t want to walk around barefoot and it’s also nice to feel somewhat “at home”. Slip on ones are the way to go so you don’t have to bend down to put them on.

Shower Shoes - I probably took 2-3 showers for my first delivery but wouldn’t have been able to do it without shower shoes, like these Havianas.

Other things I’m planning on packing:

  • My pillow with a silk pillow case like this one

  • 2 nursing bras such as these

  • Nursing pillow - I liked this one

  • All of my regular toiletries, brushes and blowdryer. Personally, it helped me feel my best and human (for lack of a better word!) after delivering.

Given that it is January, I will plan to wear comfy, loose clothes for the short ride home (and probably wear the slippers out of the door!) and only plan to bring on going home outfit for the baby.
